BIOGRAPHY OF BOLA AHMED TINUBU

Chief Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu GCFR (Grand Commander of the order of the Federal Republic) was born on March 29, 1952, this year of birth is sometimes objected by political opponents who argue that he is much older. Some reliable sources note that his age has not been verified. He is a Muslim and was born in Lagos into the merchant family of Abibatu Mogaji, the ìyálójà of Lagos. He attended Saint John's Primary School, Aroloya Lagos, before proceeding to children home school in Ibadan. He completed his undergraduate studies in the United States, first at Richards Daley College in Chicago and then at Chicago state university. He graduated in 1979 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. He worked as an accountant for the American companies Arthur Anderson, Deloitte and GTE Services Corporation. After returning to Nigeria in 1983, he joined Mobil Oil Nigeria, and later became a company executive.

He got married to Oluremi Tinubu, who is a former senator representing the Lagos central senatorial district in 1987 and also a lawyer. They have three children Zainab Abisola Tinubu, Habibat Tinubu and Olayinka Tinubu. He fathered three children from previous relationships, Kazeem Olajide Tinubu (12 October 1974-31 October 2017), Folashade Tinubu (born 17 June 1976) and Oluwaseyi Tinubu (born 13 October 1985). His early life was marked by tragedy. His father, a custom officer died when tinubu was just three years old. His mother struggled to provide for the family, and tinubu grew up in poverty while his mother died on June 15, 2013 at the age of 96.

After the military head of state Sani Abacha dissolved the senate in 1993, Tinubu became an activist campaigning for the return of democracy as a part of the national democratic coalition movement. In the first post-transition Lagos state election, tinubu won by a wide margin as a member of the alliance for democracy. Four years later, he won re-election to a second term. After leaving office in 2007, he played a key role in the formation of the all progressive Congress in 2013. In 2023, he was elected as the president of Nigeria and has been ruling over Nigeria till date. He was one of the 18 candidates presidential election in 2023. He is known with the slang E mi lokan meaning it is my turn, with this slang the citizens were excited that the country is going to be better as he has promised buh not quite long after he was declared the president he removed fuel subsidy in Nigeria, impeached CBN governor for embezzlement of the nation's fund, inflation here and there, a lot has happened in this country just within this short tenure he has used in this country.

He holds two traditional chieftaincies, he is the "Asiwaju" of Lagos and the "Jagaba" of the Borgu Emirate in Niger State.

In conclusion, those who know him say that he is a good listener and a compassionate person, but the fact that's it's the other side of this attitudes that he portrays towards the citizen is challenging. Let's all hope for a change and a better Nigeria.
