EDUCATION: COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE LAST SEMESTER'S RESULTS
In the last semester's results record has it that over three thousand results were below 50 marks so the SUG( Students' Union Government)sent a questionnaire through Google form for people who scored below 50 for them to fill it, some departments already made changes while some hasn't.
Moreover, on the 8th of July, 2024 the SUG released a memo regarding the last semester's result and it says that students that believe their issue should be investigated i.e they attended class, did test, wrote assignment and sat for examination, they should write a formal letter directly to the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and it should be addressed to the provost, the dean and the Head of department, in the letter the student should state their name, matric number, course they have issue with and the detailed reasons why they believe the issue should be investigated, once the letter is written the student should reach out to their departmental and faculty vice presidents and the vice president are to ensure that the letters are appropriately conveyed to the Deputy Vice Chancellor.
According to an anonymous, she said that she failed a particular course and took all these steps but all they told her was that she should redo the examination, whereas she mentioned that she wrote the test, did assignment, never missed a class and sat for the examination but all they told her is that she should redo the examination without investigating the issue and she is not being encouraged anymore because with all the stress she went through last semester to try her best they were all In vain.
In conclusion, we know the SUG are trying on this matter but there are still some people that are sure they are not meant to get whatever they got, they should attend to them not telling them to redo the examination because it's not encouraging these kind of people will want to relent during this coming examination. The ICT should also take their time while recording people's score so they don't end up failing students who aren't meant to fail, and to the students also this is not the end of it, this result shouldn't bring anyone down just work hard so this situation won't repeat itself again.
